Teaching is an incredibly rewarding career choice and one that you can enter from a variety of backgrounds. Many teachers progress to teaching from previous careers or fields of expertise such as teaching languages from living abroad. The fulfilment you get from teaching others especially children where you can see firsthand their knowledge and understanding increase day by day is one of the main draws for teachers to enter their profession.

There are many elements that go into becoming a great teacher, not all of them are skills that are taught to you in teacher training either. Obviously organizing lesson plans and fulfilling curriculum requirements factor in to make sure that the children are learning what they need to in order to pass exams and learn new subjects, but there are other skills that a good teacher would need in order to get the most out of their students.

Enthusiasm and a fresh approach to learning is something many good teachers possess, if the teacher can identify the core education material and explain this in a way that their students can understand and possibly enjoy then this is a great way to make sure that the knowledge that they garner from lessons will stick with them. Most students will agree that new approaches and ways to make learning fun are much more memorable than simply reading out of a text book.

Another important skill is being able to cater for many students at once and ensuring they all learn at the same rate. It is often the case that some students may struggle and get stuck along the way during a lesson but in order to make sure you teach each student proficiently you need to be aware of anyone struggling and provide help and guidance if necessary. Some teachers who have done so have been able to identify some learning difficulties such as dyslexia which can go unnoticed unless a teacher is aware.

There are lots of requirements of a teacher but the rewards for a career in teaching are unmatched when you are able to craft young minds and help them find their strengths which could ultimately set them on the right path for the future. If you are interested in
